What "Salvation"?

Sometimes the neatest things happen to bring on great conversations with my kids. Even a simple answer can bring big topics up. I try my best to keep the answer on their level, and sometimes it begins with something humorous!

The other day, I was driving home after picking Mysia up. The radio was playing, and the song "Know So Salvation" by Legacy Five came on. I was singing along when Mysia interrupted me.

"Daddy...?" she asked in a concerned voice.

"Yes?" I replied.

She continued, "Why are they singing about a 'no SNOW salvation'? What's wrong with snow...?"

After my laughing spell, we talked about her 'knowing' Christ. Once explained, and the answer revealed, she was once again. She then told me how she can now explain it to her friends.

Oh, what a funny girl!

Week Rundown! (02/17/13 - 02/23/13)

On Sunday, I got up and got ready. Mysia left with me, and I dropped her off to have breakfast with Granny and Granddad. Then I did the church van route. Malachi's friend Asa had spent the night, so Lydia brought both boys to church. The boys also spent the afternoon together at our house, since they believed that their time together on Saturday was short. Mysia spent the afternoon with her Aunt Abigail. After evening services, we attended the monthly birthday and anniversary fellowship before heading home for bed.

Since Monday was president's day, Mysia didn't have class. However, she had her first piano lessons. So we are now in search of a full-sized piano (our electric keyboard won't do). Mysia is excited and ready to practice every day. Before coming home, Lydia did the bi-monthly grocery shopping. Malachi and I worked on cleaning his room.

The excitement of winter weather moving into the area was the highlight of Wednesday... but we didn't get it until late that night. However, folks were afraid, and the attendance for evening services at church was low. We didn't have many kids in the children's service, but it turned out great.

I woke up early Thursday morning to the sound of my phone going off letting me know that BBC campus was closed due to weather. Sure enough, it was starting to rain ice! Not more than a few minutes later, we got the call from the public schools. They were closed too. Lydia checked the internet, and yup... no classes for her. She was excited. I went ahead and showed up for work, but Lydia and the kids got to spend the day at home. They had and indoor picnic and enjoyed the entire day together. We spent the evening playing UNO before going to bed.

On Friday evening, the kids played games and watched a few episodes of Dick Van Dyke Show before hitting the house hard with chores. By the time we got to bed, the house was in great shape.... but we were tired!

Lydia got up on Saturday and went into work. The kids and I watched some cartoons before going to Tae Kwon Do class. I'm hoping to get my suit sometime next week. After class, Mysia and Malachi got to see their cousin Gideon for a short time before we headed back home. Lunch was simple, and after we ate, they went down for naps. They were both tired and slept longer than normal. We read and got some bedroom cleaning done before Lydia came home from work. We then ate supper and enjoyed the evening together. The kids took baths before going to bed at a decent hour.

Week Rundown! (02/03/13 - 02/09/13)

The first of the week went pretty well, nothing out of the ordinary. On tuesday, the kids and I beat Lydia home, so we had a quick supper. MeMaw (Paulette) visited with us that evening.

After church on Wednesday evening, we worked on getting Mysia and Malachi's valentine cards ready for the following day. Malachi had already made a box at his daycare, but Mysia needed one made. We worked past her bedtime to get it completed, but were very satisfied with the result!

Since Valentine's day was Thursday, I tried my best to make the day special for my sweetheart. I was able to have the flowers and gifts ready for her when she woke up. I took off work in the late afternoon, and we went out for an early dinner/late lunch before picking up the kids. It turned out great, and we was able to enjoy the time together. My parents picked up the kids for a short trip to get them ice cream cones. That made their day!

Friday was super busy for me. It was the day of KWFC's Cabin Fever Festival, and I had a ton to accomplish before concert time! I really enjoyed it though. Lydia and the kids attended the first part of the concert before returning home for bed. Since I worked it, I was there until the very end. Besides enjoying the great music, I got to visit with several of the artists... a big plus for me. One of the many benefits of working at the radio station! Of course, I enjoyed greeting and talking to our listeners, but visiting with people is always fun for me.

The kids and I had Taekwondo class on Saturday while Lydia went into work. We had a quick lunch and then headed to church for a surprise birthday party of one of our friends Doug. The theme was Mad Hatter, so we wore our funny hats! Malachi's buddy, Asa came over for the rest of the day, and spent the night. The boys played and played. If we ever wondered what it would have been like for Malachi to have a twin brother, this was our taste. They played like brothers, and had a great time before bed.

Week Rundown! (02/203/13 - 02/09/13)

The week was a blur with activity, so I'll hit the highlights!

Monday was a bit hectic. The kids and I beat Lydia home, so I had them take showers while I took the toilet apart. It was leaking and needed fixed before it ruined the floor. Unfortunately, I didn't have all the parts, so when Lydia arrived, I headed to the store while she prepared supper. I was able to finish the toilet before the food was ready, and we ate. The kids then headed to bed while Lydia worked on homework.

Mysia's ears had been hurting, so I picked her up early from school and took her to the doctor on Thursday. Thankfully there is no ear infection, just sinus backup. We spent about an hour at Wal-mart waiting for the subscription to be filled, and then headed home. It was Pajama day for her, and because of the rain, her slippers got soaked!

Friday evening was special for us all. We decided to go to the mall for some clothing shopping. We started our excursion by going eating at the food court. While ordering food, we ran into friends from church. Then as we were enjoying our dinner, my parent showed up! We then did some walking around and visiting some of the department stores. We weren't too satisfied with the prices and only got a few dresses for Mysia. We then headed out to Wal-mart and found better priced clothing! The kids also spent some of their money that had saved. Malachi bought a car and ramp that sets up in the bathtub, and Mysia bought a mp3 player that holds 4 gigs of media! What an eventful evening!

Lydia worked again on Saturday. The kids and I had Taekwondo class, and then spent the afternoon at home with naps and housework. Aunt Adria visited with us for the evening. The kids got to enjoy some games on the Wii before bed.

Week Rundown! (01/27/13 - 02/02/13)

Malachi and I got up early on Sunday, got dressed, and headed to the monthly Men's Prayer Breakfast. Malachi got to spend the afternoon with Granddad and Granny. Mysia watched some her favorite cartoons before taking a nap. Lydia worked on homework and I worked on a few things that I needed to get done.

Monday was Mysia's birthday! She turned 8... and the special thing was that she doesn't' have to sit in a booster seat when riding in a vehicle! The weather was nice, but Malachi still had a cough. So much for going outside when we got home. For supper, we had Mysia's favorite... grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. We had a surprise visit from Gampa (Lydia's dad). We allowed the kids to stay up a little later than normal to watch a cartoon episode of Garfield and Friends before they went to bed.

Tuesday evening was a busy one. Lydia had a class project meeting, so she didn't get to home until the kids went to bed. With that in mind, the kids and I had a 'fun night' after getting home and eating supper. Uncle Sam visited by bringing some "fun dip". Both kids had blue mouths and fingers!

Wednesday was a rush like usual, we ate real quick and headed off to church. We got there right on time... whew! It was a busy evening in Children's services, but we made it through. After getting home and the kids in bed, Sam came over for a short while and helped me upgrade our Nook Color Tablets to the newest android operating system.

We had a some snow on Thursday, but only enough to slightly cover everything with white. To the kids' disappointment (and mine), not enough to go sledding. After work on Thursday, I picked up the kids and headed out to CPO to get Mysia free birthday gift. Once she picked out her prize, we headed over to visit Uncle Sam at Palen Music Center. We picked up a few guitar picks and a strap for Mysia. Once home, I started on supper while the kids took their showers. Lydia had went grocery shopping, and arrived home by the time dinner was ready. We watched some cartoons and Mythbusters before going to bed.

Mysia didn't have school on Friday, so she spent the entire day at the Boys & Girls Club. When I got off work, I picked the kids up and headed home. We had tacos before Abigail came over. Lydia and I then left on a date while the kids stayed at home with their awesome aunt! They watched a movie and then went to bed, letting Abigail have some time to study her college homework. Once arriving back home from our date, Lydia and I worked on a few things before getting some much needed sleep.

Saturday morning came fast! Lydia got up and headed off to work. After breakfast and some cartoons, the kids and I headed out for Taekwondo class. Once back home, we ate breakfast and I had the kids take naps. I then worked on fixing a leaking toilet and replacing passenger side headlight on my car. Once the kids got up, we headed outside to enjoy the somewhat warm weather. They went up and down the driveway on the scooters for about an hour. Lydia came home and we had supper with Paulette and Adria.
