Week Rundown! (01/02/11 - 01/02/11)

Sunday:

It was back to running vans for church this week after being off last week. I had a pretty good number on my van, and if everyone had come, it would have been full.

Services were nice, and I took a short nap in the afternoon. I made sure my alarm was set so that we sleep to long!

Since Mysia doesn't have school tomorrow, she went home with Granny after the evening services. .

Monday:

Lydia went to the gym early in the morning, and then headed to work. Since it was just Malachi and I, we got up, got ready, and I dropped him off at daycare before heading into work myself.

Today was a bit awkward for me. It was nice being off for 10 days straight! Anyway, I had quite a bit of work to do! Lydia got off work and went to my parents' house to pick up Mysia. She ended up staying there until 5 visiting. When I got off work, I picked up Malachi and headed home. We got there before Lydia, so I started taking down the Christmas lights off the house. It only took me 15-20 minutes! I was happy about it, but also a little mad... it took me hours to get those strands working and put on the house last month!!!

Quartet practice was cancelled, so I spent the evening at home with Lydia and the kids. We watched some tv, played the Wii, and then went to bed.

Tuesday:

Lydia went to the gym again, and then came home right in time for me to leave for work. She dropped the kids off at daycare and school before going to work.

The rest of the day was pretty normal. Lydia picked up Mysia from school, then Malachi, and headed home. I met them there after work. We ate, and then Lydia went to BioLive.

Wednesday:

This morning, I went to the gym early. The plan was for me to go straight to work afterwards, but I forgot an important item when packing my gym bag... deodorant. So I made a quick stop at home before going in to work. Lydia didn't have to work today, so she dropped the kids off at daycare and school and then headed to the gym.

Lydia spent most of the day with house work and re-arranging the kitchen cabinets. I came home for lunch so we could visit for a bit. She picked Mysia up from school and helped her with her homework.

Church services was good. I sang a special before the sermon, and messed up a bit on the words. The bad part was that it was a song I wrote! Whoops!

When we got home, we did a complete turn-over of the house. Two of our Wii games that we haven't played since Saturday were missing. We don't know where they might be! I even brought in two of the trash bags and searched through them! Ugh!

Thursday:

Lydia went to the gym and took her friend Mary. I got up and got the kids ready for the day. Lydia came home in time for me to head into work, and then she dropped the kids off and headed to the auto shop. We had received a coupon in the mail for a free oil change, and since they were located a block from her work, she dropped off and walked into work.

Surprise, surprise... they found minor problems with our van that needed taken care of soon. Like wiper blades! And they wanted to charge us quite a bit for labor. Uh, I don't think so! They couldn't even find out what was wrong with my car! And it still needs figured out by the way! Needless to say, we stuck with the just the oil change!

After work, Lydia picked up Mysia from school and headed into to BioLife. I got off of work, picked up Malachi, and headed home. He and I played army-men while waiting for Lydia and Mysia to arrive. They brought home pizza! We ate, watched some Loony Tunes, did homework, gave the kids showers, and put them to bed. Lydia then gave me a haircut, and she did Wii Fit before we headed to bed.

Friday:

Lydia went into the gym again this morning, and then we pretty much followed the same schedule as yesterday.

After work, Lydia picked up Mysia and headed to an Honours meeting. When I got off work, I picked up Malachi and headed home. I then made an easy supper for the kids while waiting for Lydia and Mysia to come home. Meanwhile, Paulette/MeeMaw showed up to watch the kids. As soon as Lydia showed up, we left leaving Paulette with Mysia and Malachi.

It was our date night, so Lydia and I headed out to Olive Garden! Lydia had gotten a gift card, and it was our chance to use it. After waiting 40 minutes in the 'lobby', we finally got seated. We ate salad and bread-sticks while waiting for our meal to arrive. When it did, it was hot! Oh... and sooooo good! :)

Saturday:

We didn't sleep in too much. The kids were up and wanting to watch cartoons. I tried putting on Netflix, but our internet wasn't working. So I put on PBS and called our internet provider. They did a round of tests and had me restart my modem and router. It finally started working.

We ate breakfast (pancakes), and then headed out to get me a new suit for the wedding. I've been in need of a new one for some time now. I found one at a reasonable price! Afterwards, we headed off to CPO. Mysia had received a free gift card in the mail since her birthday in a few weeks. While there, they spend a few dollars they had saved up.

Back at home, we ate a quick lunch and put them down for naps. Lydia's cousin Daniel came over and I helped retrieve files off of a laptop of his. The screen was broken, so he wasn't able to retrieve anything. So I plugged the laptop up to desktop monitor, and we were able to see everything. It worked!

Lydia went to Pampered Chef party while I stayed home with the kids. We played, watched Loony Tunes movie on Netflix, and ate supper. Before Lydia came home, she went to the store for our weekly grocery run. When Lydia arrived back home, we got the kids to bed, and we watched an episode of Monk before going to bed ourselves.

Modern Man Originated From Location Of Israel....?? (01/07/11)

Wow... I there is an exciting article that talks about a recent discovery. Archeologist have unearthed teeth in a cave. They say they are from modern man, but dated at 400,000 years ago. This disrupts a lot int the theory of evolution when it comes to humans!

It's not too much of big surprise to those of us who believe in the literal account of Bible. The neatest part is that this discovery places the origin of mankind in Israel, not Africa.

Of course, evolutionist are really going to fight this discovery. So it's going to be an interesting watch! Hopefully, the interest in this news won't die away (like the t-rex tissue they discovered in 2005)!

Giving Plasma (Friday, 01/07/10)

As several of you followers of this blog know, Lydia gives plasma twice a week. It is something that helps us financially. Although it may not be the most fun thing to take part in, Lydia takes the time and enjoys it. She'll watch a tv show, read, listen to music, or even catch up on homework! She's explained that its good to have time to herself. Now, I'll admit it can be a pain when scheduling things, since she usually has her appointments in the evening... but in the end, it pays off.

Before some wonder how come Lydia gives, but no me, and that I should.... I agree. I used to give plasma, but had some issues with my veins that caused more problems then what it was worth. My arm actually leaked for weeks, and to top it off, they wouldn't even see me. So unfortunately, I'm out for the count.

One of the reasons I brought this up as a blog post is
that it seems, here locally, giving plasma has been on the rise when it comes to donors. The current state of the economy is helping with this push, no doubt. So if you want to read what has hit the local news, go here!

Playing ‘Frogger’ Can Be Dangerous! (01/06/11)

Computer have always been a part of our lives growing up. With them came games, lots of them. We had computers before we even had a NES! In fact, there were several games on the computer that I thought were better than the console games. Of course, several of them were the old arcade games. Those are still fun!

One of those arcade games that we played on our old Commodore 64 computer was "Frogger". You were a frog that would try avoid traffic, snakes, crocodiles, and other frogs. The game was addicting and fun!

Well, at the beginning of this week, I read an article about a 23 year-old man who attempted to play a real-life version of the game. He hit to the streets... literally! He was with friends, hollered out "go', and darted into traffic. Thankfully, for his sake, he didn't get hit by a truck... but did get hit by an SUV that sent him to the hospital! He's still alive. I'll admit that it makes me wonder if there was a stream on the other side of the road....

Anyway, I don't believe this guy was a geek. I'm not even going to classify him as a nerd either. Just a plain dork! (I'll go into the detail on these definitions in a later blog post)

I don't think it was wise for him to jump into this foolish idea, and I wouldn't consider it a leap of faith either.

Week Rundown! (12/26/10 - 01/01/11)

Sunday:

I woke up tired. It was pretty nice that the Church vans weren't running today. I needed sleep to re-cooperate over the Christmas! Our Sunday school class had breakfast together, a thing we do every year. Services were great, and everyone seemed to have had a good Christmas. Church was pretty full, considering it was the day after Christmas.

We came home, ate lunch, and all went to bed. And we slept.... and slept... and slept...

We all were tired when we woke up from our naps after 4:30! So we had a groggy evening of just spending rest of the day at home.

Monday:

I had taken the entire week off from work as vacation, which was good, since Mysia was out of school. We also had Malachi take 'vacation' from daycare this week as well. Unfortunately, Lydia still had to work, she didn't get vacation. However, we're thankful that she is able to have a job, so we're not really complaining!

Anyway, Lydia got up and went to work this morning. I got up, made the kids breakfast, and put VeggieTales on trough Netflix. I went to work on some projects I had scheduled for the week. There are videos that I needed to work on, and I have been commissioned to work on a calendar for KWFC. The calendar is a big project, and I want to see how well I can get some of these projects done at home while watching the kids at the same time. Kind of a test run to see how well I can handle the pressure.

Before lunch, Sam came over for a visit. He didn't have to work this week either, so he was enjoying the time off. We talked for a bit, watched some Loony Tunes with the kids, and then played the Wii before he left. I then did some housework, making sure the kids and I didn't make too much of a mess while Lydia was gone at work.

Lydia came home after three, and we got more stuff done around the house, ate supper, and played the Wii. Lydia went over to her mom's house for a visit. Mysia ended up playing Wii Resort and unlocked several of the tracks for the cycling game! She is good at it! She went from 30th place to 1st on several of the races! What a daughter!

After the kids went to bed, I also took time to work on those projects, and didn't go to bed until a little later than I wanted too.

Tuesday:

Lydia left work again this morning while I stayed home with kids. I found another VeggieTales video on Netflix. The kids watched the video while worked on projects. Before lunch I pulled out the army-men that Malachi got for Christmas and we played. There were a ton of them! The kids took a bouncy ball and took turns throwing it at each others' army. It was a pretty good battle. I really don't know who 'won', but it was fun anyway!

We ate lunch, and I put them to bed. I then picked up the army-men and worked on projects until they woke up. After work, Lydia stopped by for a bit and then went to visit Mary for the evening. I packed up the kids and headed over to my parents' house for a visit.

When we all got home, we put the kids to bed and watched a movie. I also worked more on the projects.

Wednesday:

Today was Lydia's day off. She slept in, and so did I! The kids played nicely for the most part until we got up and moving around. I got up and made pancakes for breakfast.

Since the weather was nice and I wanted some pictures of the kids, I took them outside to play for a while. Boy, they enjoyed that. They played on the fort, swinging and sliding. They even climbed around on the lawn/porch swing frame. I ended up taking 100+ pictures... digital cameras are great!

We then left to visit GiGi (Lydia's Grandma) to wishing her a merry Christmas and give her the Christmas gift we had for her. We spent several hours there. I tried making her a dvd of the kids' Christmas program, but was having trouble with the video format. Ugh!

On our way home, we stopped by the mall. Lydia got a flower hair clip for the upcoming wedding of her brother Titus. We then ate supper at home, and headed off to midweek services at church.

Thursday:

Lydia went back to work today. I again stayed at home with the kids. The day went by like Monday and Tuesday. The kids played and I worked on projects. Of course, I took time to play with them as well, and I definitely didn't ignore them. My voice stated going out! I think it was because I was using it more at home than I usually do while at work!

Lydia went to Biolife after work, so when she came home, I quickly headed out. The quartet was to sing at one of the local nursing homes. Unfortunately, when got there, were denied entrance. A virus had struck the facility, and they weren't allowing visitors....

I returned home and we all played the Wii until time for the kids to go to bed. Lydia worked on the budget while I worked on the projects.

Friday:

After Lydia left for work, I made breakfast for myself and the kids, did some housework, and let the kids play. Before lunch, Dave Taylor from KWFC stopped by and we went over the project I was designing for him. Mysia and Malachi, both whom had been content playing with each other all morning, found this time to come to me and inquire about everything they could think of! Go figure!

We had an enjoyable lunch, and I put the kids down for a nap. It then struck me that I too could do the same thing... so I did! I took a nap! Boy, did it feel good! Thanks to both of them, I woke up after an hour, but it was a nice rest!

We then got the house picked up and ready. I let the kids play Mario Kart while I made a bunch of Frappuccino for this evening. When Lydia came home, we worked on snacks and supper. Doug and Mary came over, bringing goodies as well. I made steaks on the George Foreman grill my parents gave us for Christmas, and they turned out great!

We all played Wii games into the night. We took breaks to eat snacks and visit. The Frappuccino I made kept me going... that's for sure. After midnight, Doug and Mary went home, and we picked up before going to bed!

Saturday:

The beginning of a new year, and again, we slept in. It felt sooo good! Mysia and Malachi played with each other until Lydia and I got up. It was bit of a lazy morning. I made bacon on the grill, and it turned out great! I was surprised how much grease it drained! Lydia's main focus during the day was getting the turkey and fixings ready for later in the afternoon.

Besides taking time to work on the projects I had, the kids and I played some Wii. We even played Mario Kart with Benjamin over the internet! That was pretty cool. During the kids' naps, Lydia played it as well, unlocking some features in the game. While waiting for Lydia's family to arrive for our "Christmas" with them, we all played Mario Kart. Family fun time!

Paulette, Moses, Kristi, and Lycia showed up at the same time. They brought gifts and food! After everyone was settle in, we ate supper. While eating, we visited! The gift exchange was fun, and it was fun watching Mysia and Malachi open theirs. Games was the next activity, and the girls all played Mario Kart for most of the evening. Talk about a display of interesting driving skills! LOL!!!!! Of course, the conversations wouldn't be complete without the topic of the upcoming wedding less than two weeks!

After the kids went to bed and everyone left, Lydia and I cleaned up the house and did some Wii Fit before heading off to bed.
