Happy New Year!
Well, this is the last post of the year for the blog. I want to thank all for following and reading what I've been posting! It's been a wonderful year, and we've been blessed with all that has happened!
I'm looking forward to see what the next year holds! Of course, I'll keep updating this blog!

Thursday Thoughts: The Pogo Sticks
One of the kids at church mentioned that he got a pogo stick for Christmas. Boy, did that bring back memories! As kids, my brother and I received pogo sticks too. They were awesome. I remember the first several weeks trying to 'pogo' more than 20 times. It was difficult. We eventually got it down, and could go on forever. But there were a few things we learned along the way.
Pogo sticks come with a rubber stop at the bottom, much like the ones on the end of a cane or walking stick. This helps with traction and keeps the metal from damaging your sidewalks and driveway! The one problem was that when you'd land on the ground, the rubber stop would come off the pogo, and would be buried deep into the dirt. The harder you landed the further down it was. Needless to say, my mom had several holes in her yard near the driveway and sidewalk!
I had also found out that it was best not to Pogo near a fence. If you got off balance, or just bounced the wrong way... it hurt! Chain-link fences aren't very forgiving when you slam into them!
However, besides jumping with them, my brother and I found that they made great-looking pretend machine guns when playing war with the other kids in the neighborhood. Then you could use them as an escape to dodge bullets! ha!
Some people may think their dangerous, but to me... they were great fun! Great times and memories!

Week Rundown (12/18/2011-12/24/2011)
Sunday
Since I had been sick on Saturday and our car was left at church from Friday night, I didn't run vans. I was able to ride in with to church Lydia and the kids. We had breakfast as part of our Sunday School with everyone bringing a dish. During the morning services, Mysia and Malachi took part in the Children's Christmas Program. Mysia had a solo part, and did very well! Malachi participated as well and didn't miss a beat.
We went home for lunch, took naps, and then headed back to church a bit early so that Mysia could practice for the Youth Nativity Pageant that they were performing during the evening services. She was one of the angels. It was neat seeing the kids acting out all the parts. Truly a special program!
Monday
This week, Lydia and I both had off from work. Lydia was glad to get a rest from both work and school. After dropping the kids off at school and work, we went Christmas food and gift shopping! The goal was to get as much done before lunch. We tried, and actually made it home before 1:30!
We picked up the kids and came home. The kids played while before we had supper. I had quartet practice.
Tuesday
I left Lydia at home and took the kids to school and daycare. I then visited my mom at the BBC library before going into work. Yes... on my week off, I went into work for a few to be a part of the weekly business meeting. Good thing... I got a Christmas bonus!!! ;)
We had Titus and Jordin over for supper and visit. It was nice to be able to hang out, visit, and talk! We hadn't really had a chance to get to know our fairly new sister-in-law, and this gave us the chance! We were having such a great time, we were saddened to realize how fast the evening had gone when it was time for them to leave..
Wednesday
We left the house, dropped the kids off at daycare and school, and headed to the mall. Lydia and her sisters had planned to hang out and shop. I had decided to go and venture around not knowing that the guys would show up too!
I then dropped Lydia off at work so that she could attend the office Christmas party and finish up some work. I then headed into work for our office Christmas party as well! I tell you, I just can't stay away. Perhaps its the food! ;)
After the party, I picked up the kids and then picked up Lydia from work. We headed home and ate supper. Since we didn't have any services tonight, so we stayed home and watched Christmas movies!!!
Thursday
I got up and took the kids to school and daycare. Lydia and I got a few things done around the house in preparation for tomorrow. However, Lydia found she was missing some ingredients, so she tried leaving... the van woulnd't start!!!
I got ready, picked up Abigail, and met Greg and Sam at Jordan Creek Nursing home. We set up the sound equipment and sang for the residents for about 45 minutes. They seemed to enjoy hearing our Christmas songs. I know we enjoyed singing them! Unfortunately, since I was down to one vehicle, Abigail and I had to rush out so that I could make it in time to grab Mysia from school. Sure enough, we made it with almost no time to spare.
Mysia and I dropped Abigail off at her house, ran to the store to grab some food, picked up a pizza, and then got Malachi. When I arrived home, our friend Ben had came by and looked at our van. He had jumped it, but we weren't quite sure what the problem was. We think it may be the fuel pump? (I hope not)
This evening, Lydia worked on food and we watched some Christmas specials on TV.
Friday
Early to rise for us! Today was Christmas #1 with Lydia's family! But first.... pictures at Sears portrait studio at the mall. We got up, got showered and dressed, and headed out. We stopped by Krispy Kreams to pick up free donuts we had received vouchers for from the Christmas parade a couple of weeks ago.
Amazingly, we arrived to Sears 30 minutes before our appointment. So we waited for the others to show up. When they did, we confused the photographer since there were so many shots we wanted. With six siblings, three that are couples, and one a family with two kids... I felt for the guy. Fortunately, with the first group shot, we got it in the first take!!!! WOW!!!
After pictures, we headed back to our house for dinner and gifts. Lydia and I had set up the dinning room and kitchen to sit everyone. As the rest of dinner was being prepared, Mysia and Malachi kept eating the vegetables. I wasn't going to stop them... better then eating all the cookies and snacks! After we all sat down and gave thanks, we gobbled up the 22-lb turkey with all the fixings! Yum.
We visited some more and then piled into the living room to exchange gifts. The kids were excited, but it seems that everyone else was as well since there were several hollers for joy when gifts were opened! ;) With the opening of gifts completed, we watched "A Nativity Story" and packed up the food. Everyone took turns playing "Just Dance" on the Wii. It was fun watching everyone trying to keep up with the characters on-screen. Mysia and Malachi did well with their turns. We played board and card games for the rest of the evening, and I even brought out Mario Kart 64. Boy, those graphics look horrible on a flat screen tv!
We were all getting tired and sleepy, so everyone left for home and bed. Mysia had crashed on the couch among all the noise! Malachi was still as hyper as could be. Lydia and I packed our things and we headed to my parents house for the night. Once there, we let the kids and their cousins open gifts of pajamas for the night, and then had them go to sleep. We visited for a bit, but were too tired to really hold a conversation.
Saturday
We had spent the night at my folks' house, so we woke up and had breakfast. We visited and the kids played. We then got ready and went to open the gifts. We let the kids open a few before we did our 'dirty santa' gift exchange. It was fun... several of the gifts were 'stolen' several times! I think it went very well!
The kids got quite a bit, and some of the presents required assembly! Daddy time!!! But hey, that gives me a good excuse to play with the toys!
Dinner time came around, and we set up the 'buffet table' with all the food. Just like yesterday, the food was fantastic! We were a bit tired afterwards, so we cleaned up and took naps. I don't know who needed it more... us or the kids! Once we woke up, it was time to get ready for Candlelight Services at church. I also packed up everything into the van.
We tried to leave... but the van wouldn't start! It just clicked when I turned the ignition. So we pushed it out of the driveway, and piled into other cars. We made it to church just as services were starting! Everyone was there for the services, and we had a special surprise... Silas announced that Kristi was expecting!!!
My dad dropped me off at the house so I could pick up the car. We spent the rest of the evening watching a movie before heading home. It was past midnight when we pulled into the driveway! Christmas had arrived!!!

Week Rundown (12/11/2011-12/17/2011)
Sunday
As usual for Sunday mornings, I ran the van route and we attended Sunday School. During the morning services, I took part in our church's Christmas Cantata. It was an exciting presentation, and the theme was Jesus, King of Love.
After the evening services, we enjoyed fellowship and food in celebration of those who have had birthdays and anniversaries in the month of December.
Monday
This week was finals for Lydia! She had studied hard and was looking forward to this week to come and go by quickly. With some of the assignments, she was getting a bit stressed out. If you're friends with Lydia on facebook, you'd see how relieved she was to get today's final over with!
After coming home and eating, I left Lydia and the kids to go practice with the quartet. As I've mentioned in other posts, we've been working on our Christmas songs. We are scheduled to sing on December 22, at 3:30 at Jordan Creek Nursing and Rehab.
Tuesday
Lydia had another final today, she was glad to get it over with.
This evening was the KWFC Christmas party. After work, we dropped the kids off at Aunt Lycia's and rushed over to the Tower Club. My boss had gifts for everyone. The dinner was great and we were able enjoy a great time in games and conversation.
Wednesday
Tonight was special for the children's services at church. It was awards night! We were able to show a video of our missionary project, congratulate the kids on their achievements, and enjoy a snack afterwards.
Thursday
Today, Abigail joined me for lunch at the college cafeteria. On Thursday's, they charge only $3... it's a great deal that I try to take advantage of every week. And since it was the last time for the year (week of finals), it was a must go!
After work, Lydia and I met at Rib Crib to celebrate her graduating from OTC! It had been long two years, and we're so happy for her!
Friday
Today was 'Malachi & Daddy Day'. We got to go Christmas shopping for Mysia. Of course, we played with the toys and looked around while we were out too. We got donuts and came home. I let Malachi pick out a movie, and we watched it together. I then pulled out the huge Christmas train and we set it up in the living room. That kept us busy for the rest of the day.
Malachi took a nap after eating lunch and then we went to pick up Mysia from school. Today was Friday sing, so Malachi and I got to join her in front of the entire school for the weekly student awards. That's what happens if you show up as a parent during the Friday sing.
I then took the kids out shopping for Lydia's Christmas gift from them. Not the most enjoyable part of the Christmas traditions... but it had to be done! I made them hold hands while shopping, that way they wouldn't touch things. I'd like to say that the idea worked, but it didn't.
After Lydia came home from work, we got dressed up and headed to church for the Christmas banquet. It was a wonderful evening!
Saturday
I woke up in the morning with horrible stomach cramps! I was to do vans for the children's Christmas party at church, but that didn't happened. I spent most of the morning doubled over in pain as my stomach played war within my body!
Lydia and Abigail (who had spent the night) got the kids ready and headed to church without me. Mysia and Malachi got to enjoy the Christmas party and also practice for their programs to be held on Sunday.
Lydia took the kids shopping for my gift. She got to experience the same type of shopping I did on Friday! ;) She also stopped by and visited grandma Taylor before coming home. I was feeling better by the evening, but my stomach was still sore from the intense cramping. We watched movies before getting ready for bed.

Vacation Time!!!
Well, today starts my 2 week vacation from work! It's gonna be fun, but there are a lot of things I'm wanting to accomplish. Will I get them done? I don't know.
Today I'm spending the day with Malachi, and working on getting the desktop computer up and running. Lydia and I both have personal laptops, but we're planning on using the desktop as the school/office computer. It's basically going to be set up for Lydia to use for her homework, so that she can focus without distractions.
I'm also thinking about redoing my laptop. It has been a little sluggish lately, and I think I've installed to many programs on it that are running in the background. It'd be good to have a refresh. I just hate the fact that I'll have to re-install everything. That's the worse part.
Of course, next week I'll get to spend with Lydia since she'll be off work as well. The kids still have school, so we're going to get some Christmas shopping done and try and get a few things done around the house. Of course, it's going to be a short week with us having three Christmases, the first one starting on Friday!
Did I mention that we'll also be doing some food preparation for Christmas? That's our plan for Thursday. That means shopping for the food too!
Yesterday, I pulled out my portable LP (record) player. And yes, there is such a thing. It just a record player with an AC plug and audio output. It's bigger than a laptop, yet lighter! Well, it hadn't been working, so I took it apart and found that the rubber band on the motor had fallen off. So now it spins, but now I'm not hearing sound! Oh the frustration! lol. More things to work on I guess.
I figure I'll have some withdraws from not going into work. And I'm guessing I'll probably stop in for a bit after Christmas. Have I mentioned that I love my job? However, it's nice to get a break. The last few weeks have been hectic. But, then again, I'm happy with what I've accomplished. Plus, there are some really cool things that are coming up in the new year!

Week Rundown (12/04/2011-12/10/2011)
Sunday
I did the vans at church, picking up the kids. There was excitement in the air for the activity after morning services!
Church provided lunch for the kids (and us workers), then we headed out for Christmas caroling at one of the heath-care facilities near by. The children passed out ornaments they had made while singing. The residents enjoyed the interaction.
We arrived back at church with enough time for me to partake in choir practice before evening services. Things were going pretty good, and we were a little tired. Mysia had a fever when we returned home. Great...... :(
Monday
Mysia was sick. She had a high fever! I stayed home for the first half of the day so Lydia could take an exam at college. Then Lydia spent the rest of the day at home watching Mysia and doing homework.
Malachi and I came home this evening, Mysia was feeling better, and her temperature had gone down. We watched "Home Alone" while eating supper. The kids giggled and enjoyed all the pranks Kevin pulled on the 'bad guys'. Made me appreciate the fact that I had a great family growing up! Ha!
Tuesday
Woke up to snow. Mysia's fever was gone, but didn't go school since she needed to be 24 hours symptom free. Lydia took Malachi to daycare before heading to school then work. It was decided that Mysia would spend the day with me, so we got ready and headed to my work.
Mysia was my little 'secretary' since she spent the entire day in my office. She drew pictures, watched movies on the portable dvd player, and then decided that my office needed organized. She made sure that I kept things in order as I tried to complete my tasks for the day!
On the way home, the roads were still a little slick. A car decided to stop in the lane in front of me. No flashers, no warning. I hit the brakes, thinking I had enough room. I would have too... but the roads were slick. I had veered away, but still got the edges of our bumpers. Both of us pulled into a parking lot, I got out and he drove up further away. So I got back in my car, and he left! I've got a little damage, but my car is still good!
Once home, ate and watched "Home Alone 2". I thought the kids were giggly over the last movie, but boy.... they really enjoyed the pranks tonight! It was fun watching them over the movie!
Wednesday
I got to do the air-shift at work from 3-6pm and played some great Christmas music!
This evening was "fun night" at church for the children's services. We were all tired when we got home, so we went straight to bed.
Thursday
Made potato soup in the crock-pot before heading into work. Lydia did a major presentation for her Honors. She did great, and she's glad its over... now she's working on the studying for finals.
I did the another on-air shift at work. I had a blast!
We ate when I came home. We listened to the radio while we ate, then the kids played for a bit. After they had their showers, we relaxed on the couch listening to Christmas music.
Friday
After getting off work, we met at home and ate a quick supper. Mysia packed up her overnight things and left with me for my parents' house. I dropped her off, picked up my dad, and we headed off to church for choir cantata practice. We sang and sang...
Saturday
We woke up and slowly got around. Malachi watched cartoons, and we had bacon and eggs for breakfast. Yum!
This afternoon, we picked up Mysia and Abigail before heading downtown for the Christmas parade. The weather was warmer than last year, and we got a good spot. The kids got candy and soda!
We stopped and got a quick lunch at McDonald's before doing some shopping. We were able to find a few Christmas gifts and the kids found some toys they were able to purchase with some of their 'savings'.

Designing a Calendar...
Last year, during my Christmas vacation, I took on a commission to put together a calendar for KWFC radio. It was rough. I had an entire week to put together a calendar from scratch, making graphics and making sure the events were in. But I loved the radio station, and was up for the challenge. Plus, at the time, I was hoping for the possibility of someday working there doing graphic design, etc.
The work paid off... 4 months later, I got the job! It's been a blast working for KWFC! Never a dull moment, and I've had the chance to design some awesome material.
This week, I was back working on the calendar! We've been planning it for weeks, but this week has been the one for getting it all down. There are only a few more tweaks to be made on Monday, but I'm happy to report that it's almost completed! I'm excited that we get to put another event calendar in the hands of our listening audience.
So, for those who got one last year, pay attention... a new one will be available soon!

Week Rundown (11/27/2011-12/03/2011)
Sunday
I woke up early, got ready, and took Malachi to church with me. This morning was Men's Prayer Breakfast. However, when we arrived at church, we found that the battery was dead in the van I drive. Come to find out, one of the kids had turned on the back dome lights over the week, and it had drained all the juice from the battery. I finally got the van jumped and we ate breakfast.
The kids and I rested during the afternoon while Lydia worked on her homework, then it was back to church for evening services.
Monday
After having five days off with no work or school, things were back to normal, however... a bit hectic. Lydia came home with Malachi before I got off work, so that she could focus on some of her homework. I picked up Mysia and stopped by the store to pick up some things we had ran out of over the weekend.
Lydia had Thanksgiving casserole made by the time I arrived home. We ate and then the kids watched a movie before going to bed.
Tuesday
After work, I picked up Abigail and we met Lydia and the kids at home. We ate supper and got the kids ready for bed. Abigail was our sitter for the night so Lydia and I could go out. We attended an activity for Lydia's college honors society at the bowling alley. It was fun, and we got to enjoy a free game of bowling.
During our second game of bowling, I got a call from Abigail. Malachi had wet the bed, she helped change him and the bed, but he was throwing a huge fit and wouldn't calm down. Lydia tried talking to him over the phone, it wasn't working. We rushed home.
Come to find out, Abigail had given him pajama bottoms and a regular t-shirt. It bothered him, but he was too 'out of it' to explain it to her. He couldn't go to sleep with everything not being 'just right'. Ugh..... kids!!!
Wednesday
Tonight was church. Lydia had homework, and we stayed up late.
Thursday
We were supposed to have discipleship this evening, but to Lydia's relief, it was cancelled. Lydia had to focus on homework. The kids and I watched a movie, I made chocolate pudding, then we got ready for bed.
Friday
Today was my day off. The kids had daycare and school, and Lydia had school and work. I stayed home and worked on things around the house. For the afternoon, I met Lydia for lunch at her work. We hadn't the chance to meet up for lunch in a while, so it was nice.
This evening, we had our friends, the Hailes, over for supper and fellowship. We ate, played games, and visited. The kids enjoyed having other kids over, and we enjoyed the company as well! It was past the kids' bedtime when they left, but it was an enjoyable time... we didn't care!
Saturday
We got up and had a slow morning. The house was in order, so we just relaxed. We had the Copelands over for lunch. We visited and watched several updates of MythBusters.
I had to leave for the Christmas Concert hosted by my work (the radio station). I was in charge of the slide presentation for the entire concert. Lydia and the kids attended our Sunday School Class' Christmas party. They had fun, eating and exchanging gifts.
At the end of the concert, I had the privilege of going on stage with all the artists and singing along with the other bass singers (including my boss). We sang three Christmas carols for the audience. Talk about fun!!!

Late again...
Yup... are you surprised? I am running late on making posts! I haven't even gotten my "week runthrough" posted yet! And yes, that frustrates me!
There has been a lot going on, and I've neglected posting yet again. I could go on with excuses (holidays approaching, busy at work, busy at home, etc), but I won't. ;)
To see some of the stuff I've been up to, you can log onto my work's website (http://kwfc.org)
Anyway, I'll see if I can post more soon! By the way, only a two and a half weeks until Christmas!!!

An Example of True Giving...
This evening I got to witness the true "Christmas Spirit" while shopping at the grocery store after work. It was amazing…
While in line, there was a man paying for his groceries in at the cashier next to me. He was short $100 for his total. Without hesitation, the man behind him pulled out a hundred dollar bill and gave it to the cashier!!! Wow!
After they left, the cashier and the sacking lady were both still in shock. They admitted that they couldn't believe what had just happened. It sent goose-bumps along my arms and a chill up my spine. What an uplifting experience!
Things like that truly make this the most wonderful time of the year!!!

Week Rundown (11/20/2011-11/26/2011)
Sunday
After church services and vans, we had a nice afternoon at home.. Abigail joined us, and we ate lunch, watched some tv, and visited. The kids took some good naps, and fought over Abigail's attention before we headed back to church this evening.
Monday
Tonight was a restful one. We had a good supper, and watched tv. We also got some things done around the house..
Tuesday
Since the many are gearing up for Thanksgiving, and will be traveling tomorrow, our church moved Wednesday evening services to tonight. So when we all got home, we ate quick supper and headed to church. The services were simple, and the kids sat with us. It was nice to sit in the main auditorium and hear pastor preach for mid-week services.
Wednesday
Since I had the day off of work and Mysia didn't have school, Malachi stayed home from daycare as well. It was a sort of "daddy and kid day". Lydia got up early and went to work since she didn't have college classes due to the holiday weekend. The kids and I ate breakfast, cleaned rooms, and got played a bit. I let them watch some tv while I made a quick lunch. Lydia came home, ate, and then we all headed to a funeral.
A dear friend of the family had passed away on Saturday, Jack Paris. He was my Sunday School teacher when I was in 6th grade, and was the director of the juniors class as well. He and his wife, Betty, were dear to our hearts as we were kids. He had several battles due to his health, and I'm happy to know he is pain free right now! The funeral was good, and our kids behaved very well.
On the way home we picked up some ice cream cones for the kids. They both took naps (me too) while Lydia went back to work. After naps, we played with play-dough. Lydia brought home pizza, and Aunt Adria joined us later that evening. Lydia made two apple pies in preparation for tomorrow.
Thursday
Thanksgiving Day! The kid didn't sleep in, and neither did we! We got up and watched the parade, and got ready. Adria had spent the night, so she got to partake in our getting ready for thanksgiving.
We made it to Lydia's Aunt and Uncle's house by noon for the feast. Oh... it was delicious! We had turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cheese ball, pies, cheese, crackers... and oh, so much more! We talked, visited, watched tv, and even enjoyed the outdoors! The kids got to play outside since the weather decided to cooperate and give us some warm temps!
We stayed until 6ish, and then headed home. We then decided to turn on some Christmas music and set up the tree. Even though we have an artificial one, it's not the easiest thing to set up and decorate. However, we did it. The kids did an awesome job hanging up the ornaments and getting all decked out. We then watched some tv specials before going to bed.
Friday
I had planned on 'starting the day' with hitting some 'black Friday' sales at midnight this morning, but gave it all up by falling asleep. Oh well! We spent the morning doing different things. The kids played, I got some projects done on the computer, and Lydia focused on some homework. I did the grocery shopping while the kids napped, and then we ate a late lunch. I was planning on taking them to Silver Dollar City to meet up with my folks and brother's family. But they were tired and getting ready to leave by the time we were getting ready to head on down there.
The kids and I ended up putting up the Nativity and Christmas village while watching some Christmas movie classics. After leaving Silver Dollar City, they all stopped by our house and visited for a bit. The cousins played nicely.
Saturday
We got up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and then went over to my parents' house. Today was my dad's birthday, so us guys went shooting. Unfortunately, it was raining, so we only got to shoot for about an hour before we gave up and headed back.
We then ate Cashew Chicken for lunch and visited. Us guys went to the mall so my dad could pick up a shirt and tie while the ladies went to the thrift store to do some shopping. Malachi was a very energetic, but well-behaved for me. Mysia did well for Lydia.
Back at my folk's, we ate cake and visited some more before saying our good-byes. We then did some shopping before heading home and going to bed.

Forgetting Thanksgiving…?
Okay, it's now time for a rant. I've been working on this idea for the past month (or year?). A note of caution, this post is purely my personal opinion. If you don't agree, that's fine. If you do, thanks!
Always, at this time of year, we hear of people complaining about how Thanksgiving is being looked over. There are countless emails and status posts about "Christmas" starting too early, and how it gets earlier every year. Sure enough, stores bring out the decorations before October 31! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they start shelving them right after the 4th of July.
The sad part is that we as costumers like or not, help with this push. We want to get a head start on things so that we aren't running around like idiots the closer Christmas day gets, but yet we always do. It's not always that we're forgetting Thanksgiving, but that we're trying to get a head on the planning. But is it worth it?
Thanksgiving gets pushed back in peoples mind. It's more of a milestone on the calendar that shows us the start of the Christmas hype, than a day of true thankfulness. There is one thing good though, it's one holiday that hasn't been totally commercialized. However, it's just not celebrated properly anymore.
This year, something has taken place that makes me upset... Black Friday has been pushed up to Thanksgiving Day! I think it's a shame for people to have to work on Thursday, and I feel sorry for them. I'm not shaming the employees, but the companies themselves. The almighty dollar, or the 'love' of it. Many people agree that no one should work on Thursday, and that those working should be home with family. However, I'm guessing many will partake in the early 'Black Friday' sales that evening. If we really believe workers should be home with their families, how about the customers stay home too? I'd like to make a push for all who hold dear to the true meaning of Thanksgiving to boycott the 'Black Friday' sales starting on that day!
There are so many thoughts on keeping this day a true day of Thankfulness. What will be your part?

Week Rundown (11/13/2011-11/19/2011)
Sunday
A pretty busy day... We spent the afternoon with Lydia's siblings at Lycia's appartment. We all had a fun time visiting with Silas and Kristi.
Monday
Tonight was a good night, we just spent the evening together as a family.
Tuesday
Today was a busy day for me, I didn't have quartet practice... Instead, I ran the board at the station during the BBC Basketball game. It was a new thing to me and a pretty interesting experience.
By the time I got home, Lydia had fed, bathed, and put the kids to bed. She was working on homework.
Wednesday
Today was pretty good. After work/school, we ate a quick supper and headed to church. The kids behaved, and the children's services went well. Our kids were tired when we got home, so it was to bed for them. Lydia made pumpkin pies, and we waited until they were done baking before heading off to bed.
Thursday
Lydia had a ladies meeting, so I made a quick supper before she left. The kids and I watched some shows on NetFlix before I had them get ready for bed. When Lydia came home, she worked on some homework until bedtime.
Friday
Today was to be Father and Son Day... however, I went into work for half a day to call businesses hoping to make some underwriting sales for the station. In the meantime, Malachi spent the morning with Aunt Abigail.
After lunch, I picked up Malachi and we spent some time over at Grandma Taylor's before heading to McDonalds. I let him play in the play-area for about an hour, then we got ice-cream cones and headed home. Once at the house, we played Wii. He did very well with the games, and can aim and shoot pretty good with the controller.
Around 4pm, I was getting tired, and he hadn't had a nap, so I turned on 'Bob the Builder'. He sat with me on the couch and we watched it until Lydia and Mysia came home. We ate a quick supper and then rushed to church.
Tonight, Lydia's brother Moses had his high-school graduation ceremony. Since he was homeschooled, it was just for him. We stayed for the reception afterwards, and then helped clean up before heading home to bed.
Saturday
We had nothing planned today. Lydia left to go workout with some of the ladies at the church. The kids and I ate breakfast, and then I made them tidy up their rooms. The activity of the day was getting the house straightened up.
During their naps, Lydia and I worked on the 'office' part of our bedroom. I also took the opportunity to 'digitalize' some old children's Christmas videos from VHS to my computer. These were some videos I grew up watching. It was pretty neat. I also took our first 'home-video' we had made back in 2004, and digitalized it too! It's amazing how time flies, and it was fun watching in the background as we did things around the house for the evening.

Week Rundown (11/6/2011-11/12/2011)
Sunday
Vans were good for church, and the day went by smoothly. And we got a little rest!
Monday
Today was good, but a little hectic for me. Back to work with a ton to do... good thing I love my job!
I had a "Doctor's appointment" that was a follow-up. The Doctor didn't even see me! After spending 40+ minutes in the waiting-room and getting mixed up with another patient named Matthew, the nurse finally took me back, checked my blood pressure, assured me that all was good, and sent me out. That was it!
This evening, we had parent/teacher conference. Mysia's teacher revealed to us that Mysia was at the top of her class, and an all-around-angel. There were no complaints, no problems, nothing to be addressed. She did recommend that if we get anything for home, that we get 2nd grade material, and raise the bar for Mysia!
Boy, did we walk away as proud parents. Her teacher said that she hopes to get Malachi when he gets to 1st grade. If she only knew how active he is! ;)
Tuesday
We came home in a rush and made goolash for supper. Lydia headed out to a PTA meeting, only to find out it was cancelled. She came back home and I headed to quartet practice. We again practiced Christmas songs. Perhaps this year we'll have a CD available?
Wednesday
Today was cold and wet... made for a day that you just want to stay in bed! Anyway, while I was getting ready this morning, Malachi and Mysia were colored with markers. Sure enough, before we headed out the door, Malachi had taken a pink marker to his eyelids.
After work/school, we met at home and ate sandwiches before heading toward church.
Thursday
This evening we had Discipleship. For supper we had potato soup... it was delicious! The kids worked on posters for their Uncle Silas who made it back from overseas!
Friday
I had the day off from work, and Mysia was off of school since it was Veteran's Day. So I had a "Daddy & Daughter day" with Mysia. I had asked her where she wanted to go and what she wanted to do. I thought of the mall, but she wanted to go to the library... truly our daughter! She loves books. The public libraries were closed due to it being a holiday, so we went to the college's library. Since my mom works there, it made it even more special!
We spent several hours at the library and then headed to a few stores to look around. She enjoyed spending the time to look at all the neat Christmas decorations and toys at both shops. For lunch, we visited Grandma Taylor and spent the rest of the afternoon there before heading home.
We met Lydia and Malachi at home and got ready for Silver Dollar City. We picked up Abigail and got to the amusement park by the time darkness fell. The whole 'city' was decorated with lights and filled with music. Oh... and people too! It was pretty crowded. We made sure to hit all the 'main' stops like the tree, the parade, the train, and Santa.
By the time we got home, we were tired!
Saturday
We didn't sleep in. Lydia had the CAAP test to take... basically the college version of the ACT. She wasn't too happy about taking it, but had to so that she could get her transcripts.
I got up and got the kids ready. We picked up Abigail and headed to the theaters to see the free showing of VeggieTales: Little Drummer-boy. I must say, it's my favorite version of the story. Oh, and I loved the Star Wars references!
We came home, ate lunch, and took naps. Lydia worked on homework, we made supper, and watched "Gnomeo and Juliet" before bed.

Reading this on Facebook
Yesterday, it was announced on my newsfeed on facebook, that
what I post here on my blog won't be posted on my facebook notes in the near
future. That means that I'll have make a status post on facebook that a blog
post has been made, or you'll just have to keep checking this blog site!
My suggestion… use something like ‘google reader’ and
subscribe to my blog feed, so that you may easily know when I post.
I plan on another post today, but we’ll see how things go!

Week Rundown (10/30/2011-11/05/2011)
Sunday
I brought Malachi to church with me for the Men's Prayer Breakfast. He enjoyed being with me and the other guys. He also behaved! Those who rode my van called in saying they couldn't ride, so Malachi and I rode with our Associate Pastor on his route.
We had a nice afternoon, and great evenings services.
Monday
This week was guaranteed to be a very busy one for me. This Friday is one of the station's big concerts, featuring the Perrys. There are many things to do, and my 'to-do list' is growing fast.
Tuesday
As part of my work, I got to go see Daniel O'Donnell (the Irish singer) in Branson. It was an interesting show.
WE met for supper with my parents and siblings at Hong Kong Inn to celebrate Abigail's birthday. Afterwards, we headed over to my folks' to visit before quartet practice.
Wednesday
This evening was 'fun night' for our childrens' services at church. A bit hectic, but enjoyable!
Thursday
Tonight we Lydia and I had our discipleship class. Like always, it was great and led to interesting conversations! Mysia and Malachi enjoyed watching cartoons for the evening before bed.
Friday
Today was the day of the big KWFC Fall Finale Concert featuring the Perrys. A VERY busy day. I was in charge of the media (power-point), lights, and anything that needed attention. I probably had the best seat in the church too! ;)
Lydia stayed home with the kids and worked on homework. She's trying hard to make sure on her grades!
Saturday
Since it was a late night, we slept in while allowing the kids watch a VeggieTales movie!
Once we got up, we got moving. Chores and things were taken care of, and I even made a grocery run while the kids took naps!
For the evening, we attended a bonfire/event with our Sunday School Class. We had hot dogs, chili, roasted marsh-mellows, and hot chocolate. We had a great time visiting with our friends. Mysia and Malachi had a blast playing and running around. As it got darker, Mysia was ready to go home. She had curled up in a blanket and was about to fall asleep.
Sure enough, both kids were quickly asleep once we got in the van on our way home.

What a week!
Yes, I'll will be posting a "Week Run-Down".... but it will be delayed! Last week was very hectic, and I'm still trying to catch up! I know I haven't posted since the last update, so I figured that I'd better write something for an explanation.
On another note, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving in a few weeks! How about you?

Week Rundown (10/23/2011-10/29/2011)
Sunday
I had ran the van for church this morning, and services were great. The afternoon was pretty rest-full, which was nice. After the evening services, we enjoyed some baseball on tv!
Monday
It was back to the schedule... daycare, school, college, and work!
After work, Lydia went to an exercise class with some of the ladies at church. She took the kids with her. I went to the college to volunteer my voice for a choir directing class. John, our church's song director, is taking the class, and had asked me to come along if I ever got the chance. It was a very neat experience.
We watched the World Series Game when we got home!
Tuesday
After work, we were treated to a dinner at Rib Crib. Yum!
Malachi had gotten a huge splinter at daycare, so when got home, we played 'doctor' to get it out! It was below the thumb joint and his hand had swollen. He cried, but we were able to remove it.
I left Lydia with the kids to attend quartet practice. Christmas songs were what we practiced! Joy to the world! haha!
Lydia worked on homework, and the kids got to bed a pretty decent time!
Wednesday
There was a mystery smell in the air this morning. The news reports that no one knows what it was. It smelled like garbage!
I had a dentist appointment after work. I wasn't looking forward to it, but it didn't take long. I had a hole in my top, far right tooth. They had to numb me twice! In fact, my whole right side of my face was numb afterwards.
Church services were great, and no one was rushed since the World Series game was postponed! lol!
Thursday
We spent the evening watching the World Series game... What a night!!!!!!!! Go Cards!
Friday
We were tired for most of the day, but seeing that game last night was worth it! We again watched the game this evening! Lydia and I glued to the tv! Yay Cardinals!
Saturday
I knew that today was gonna be eventful, and I was right! We got up, ate a quick, light breakfast, and headed off to church. We participated in 'Harvest Festival'. We dressed up in biblical costumes along with others in our church. I was the Matthew the tax collector. Lydia was Lydia the seller of purple. Mysia was Naaman's servant girl. And Malachi was the prophet Malachi.
The kids played games, and took part in several activities. I helped with some face-painting, and even got a mustache! I helped set up the pie-eating contest, in which Sam won! I also took part in the chopstick jellybean race... I came in second place, to Sam! Go figure! ;)
After the church activity, we headed to the mall to take surveys of the shoppers there. It was an assignment that Lydia had for one of her college classes. The kids played in the play area.
When we got home, Lydia pulled out her homework. The kids and I ate and watched tv before they went to bed.

The Confusion of "Dr. Pepper 10"
As many friends and family know, Dr. Pepper is my favorite soda. In fact, for most of them, it's their favorite too.
A couple of weeks ago, my brother Sam gave me a bottle of Dr. Pepper 10. When I took the first gulp, I wondered what had happened to my beverage. Was it out-dated and flat? The answer was simple... a new product. And it was nasty! Why would they try and change perfection?
Anyway.. the "DP-10" is marketed toward men. Well, I'm not happy. It's disgusting! It tastes like the acid left in your mouth after vomiting. Gross!
Besides the fact that they're trying to change a perfect drink, their numbers don't add up! Notice the image. I stumbled across the following blog that addresses the confusion: http://www.graspingforobjectivity.com/2011/10/dr-pepper-ten.html
Perhaps there should be a facebook fan page to "Keep the DR the Same!" lol!

Southern Gospel - Design Mistakes...
I’ve debated on posting this, but I wonder if I’m the first to notice or say anything... so here I go!
As
many know, I love Southern Gospel music. The music, the message, the
ministry... it’s just awesome! I also love quartets. So if there is
anything going on in the genre, I’m trying to be caught up in the news. I
follow many of the blogs and try to read anything that gets posted on
the websites. Sure, I miss a few things, but that’s what can happen
sometimes. Working at a SG radio station also helps staying on top of it
all as well.
Of
course, my profession is graphic design. I deal with it all the time,
even at home. I tend to notice designs, especially those that are meant
to grab attention. I want to learn to imitate on how things are
presented, so that I may better myself in my line of work. I’ll often
look at a design that I’ve come across and try and determine how it was
accomplished and think on how I might have done the same thing.
Sometimes
I’ll notice mistakes and flaws. I’ll laugh, and hope I’ll never do the
same thing. You know... learn from others’ mistakes. However, I’ve had
my fair share of mistakes! I’ve mistakenly inverted phone numbers,
times, or left something important off of a design. Hey, it happens! I’m
not perfect!
Anyway,
to get to the point, my favorite quartet, GOLD CITY, recent released
the news about their newest recording. It’s something I’ve been looking
forward to. With the announcement came a picture of the album. There’s
no typo... but there is some digital manipulation going on. A mistake my
eye caught off the bat. I’m trying to hurt my favorite group, and I
hope that this won’t appear on the final product, but I thought I’d
point it out here on my blog.
I’ve ‘circled’ the mistakes. To see the original, go to Gold City’s website or facebook page!

Week Rundown (10/16/2011-10/22/2011)
Sunday
Steppin' Out Quartet had been asked to sing at Central Baptist Church for their anniversary Sunday services. We met at the church at 9am to set up our sound equipment and do a sound check. We sang for both the Sunday School and morning services. It went very well, and the folks seemed to enjoy having us there. We were even treated to a 'picnic' lunch afterwards.
Lydia and the kids attended our church, and I met them at home in the afternoon. Lydia prepared supper (a German dish) for the activity after church this evening. The theme was missions, and everyone was asked to bring a dish from around the world. There was some great food!
Monday
It was back to the schedule... daycare, school, college, and work! The evening was nice and restful. Nothing that really demanded our attention. Mysia worked on homework and Malachi played well. After the kids went to bed, Lydia worked on her homework as well.
Tuesday
Today was 'put a cap on drugs' (wear an interesting hat) for Mysia's school. She took part, and wore a great cap for the occasion.
This evening was a bit interesting. A few minutes before getting off work, daycare called Lydia to report that Malachi was feeling sick. Sure enough, when he arrived at home, he threw up on the kitchen floor. But after that... he was fine! We ate, but had him eat lightly. He was laying on the floor near the couch watching tv as I left for quartet practice.
The quartet started our arrangements for Christmas. We're hoping that we'll be able to sing in quite a few nursing homes and churches this season. What a wonderful time of the year!
By the time I came home, Lydia was into her homework!
Wednesday
I stayed home today, using a personal day since Malachi was 'sick'. Technically, he was fine. He just had to be symptom free for 24 hours before he could return to daycare. He and I spent the day coloring, playing army men, and cleaning his room.
After nap-time, we headed out for our dentist appointment. He was excited to go, like usual. We both had ours at the same time. Mine went well, but his did not. They used 'mint' flavored paste when cleaning his teeth, and he didn't like it. Both of my children think that anything mint flavored tastes 'hot', so they don't care for it. Anyway, after that, he would let them clean his teeth!!!
As we left the office, Lydia and Mysia showed up for their appointments. Both of theirs went well, and they met us at home shortly afterwards. We ate a quick supper, Lydia and Mysia headed to church.
Thursday
For school today, Mysia got to wear her clothes inside-out... boy, she loved this idea.
We had planned to have discipleship, but it fell through. So it was family time for the evening. The kids colored while we made supper. It's nice to get a change just have some time together.
Friday
Mysia got to wear pajamas to school today. The day went by quickly. My Grandparents, Dave & Gladys Paasch, came into town and I had them stop by the radio station to give them a tour and show them my office. It was neat having them visit.
After work and school, we met at home and then headed over to my folks' house for supper. It turned out to be a mini Paasch family reunion for us... BJ and his family had came to town for a visit as well. We stayed and visited until 11pm. For us guys, our conversations were centered around technology, of course! Especially our smart phones! ;) There is nothing new about that. We also played a few games on our phones, using the technology to play against each other! What fun!
Our kids spent the night for a 'cousin sleep-over' under the watch of Aunt Abigail!
Saturday
It was great to wake up and not have the kids bugging us! Lol! Lydia and I had a nice breakfast together and then got on top of some house cleaning. My dad and grandparents dropped the kids off at the house before lunch.
For lunch, our friends Ike & Holly came over. We visited, ate a great lunch, and then played some Mario Kart Wii. It's always fun to have friends over!
The kids took naps while we went over schedules and the dinner menu for the week. We then headed out to get Mysia's haircut. She now has it shoulder-length, and looks very cute!
We met my folks and grandparents at the food-court in the mall. After eating, we let the the kids have fun in the play area. Ben and his family showed up and we got to visit with them some more. There were a few things we wanted to shop for, so we said our good-byes and walked the mall. We had found that if you want children's snow-boots, the mall is the place to go. Unfortunately, they're a bit higher priced than what we like... but the kids need them!
Back at home, we got the kids ready for bed and I did a quick grocery run. We had heard that the World Series game was being played by one of the local stations... but couldn't find it! Lydia did a channel scan, and we got four more channels! One of them hosting the game! Yippee!

Week Rundown (09/25/2011-10/01/2011)
Sunday
I woke up, got to church and did the church van route before meeting Lydia at Sunday School.
For the afternoon, we rested. The kids were already in their beds when I arrived from doing the van route. I ate quick lunch.
We had a teacher's meeting after evenings services, so my parents asked to take the kids out for ice cream. We didn't turn down their offer! After the meeting, which went well without us having to keep our kids quiet, we picked up Mysia and Malachi at my folks. Both were full of energy... to much sugar perhaps???
Monday
Since it was Columbus Day, Lydia didn't have college classes. She put in a full day at work instead. For me, it was a busy Monday. The highlight was for me to do the on-air shift at lunch-time.
After work I picked up Mysia and headed home. We waited a few minutes for Lydia and Malachi to show up, and we piled into the van. We headed over to Hong Kong Inn to celebrate my brother Sam's 21st birthday. After eating a hearty meal of cashew chicken and rice, we then went over to my parents' house to continue the celebration with cake and ice cream. The kids played outside for half an hour until it started to sprinkle.
Once back home, we put the kids to bed, Lydia started on the laundry and I made a quick grocery list. I then did a quick run to walmart to pick up those food items to last us for the rest of the week.
Tuesday
Lydia had another day without classes. She dealt with some of the financial issues and things before going into work this afternoon.
I had quartet practice, and we ran over our plan for this following Sunday.
Wednesday
I took an early lunch, picked up Malachi, and took him to the doctor for a wellness visit. I'm sure glad I brought my ipod... we waited in the waiting room for an hour! Malachi watched movies. The visit with doctor went well.
We had good services at church. Missions was the theme for the month, and we worked with the kids.
Thursday
The day went by quickly. Lydia took Mysia to her doctor's appointment. Discipleship was canceled, so we invited our friends Doug and Mary over for dinner. We talked and watched a few videos. We also played some Wii.
Friday
Malachi got to go on a field-trip with his daycare to the pumpkin patch. He was so happy to be able to bring one home.
For supper we had biscuits and gravy and spent a relaxing evening at home.
Saturday
We got to sleep in! One of my favorite things about Saturday! After we got up, we moved around some furniture, did chores.
While going through the kids' papers from school and daycare, they decided to get into mischief! I had put our wooden rocking chair on our bed while doing some reorganizing, and the kids decided to swing off the blades on our ceiling fan! We heard a crash... Mysia broke the fan blade. They're weight was just too much...!
After naps, we went to park. Lydia and I worked on the menu while the kids wore off some energy. Then it was off to Walmart for some serious shopping. Perhaps not the best idea with two kids, but we managed!
Back home we ate Ramen noodles for late supper and got showers before bed..

Thursday Thoughts: "Honesty... and Trusting" (10/23/11)
Perhaps it's the way I was raised, or the fact that I live in a dream world...
Whatever the case, I like to trust people. I always have. It's been a hard lesson to learn that I can't. People like to manipulate, control, and deceive. It's like a game. I don't like it.
Growing up, I could never understand why someone would want to be dishonest to me. What was the benefit? They want me to be honest, and I was. But I would often be treated with lies, half-truths, and meanness. Why? Well, to others it's fun, or so it seems.
I once asked a 'friend' why... he said it's because I'm too gullible. Boy... that made me angry. And angry with myself. Obviously, I needed to less trusting.
I would like to say that I matured from being that innocent with trusting people.. But to be HONEST... not really. I just have learned to watch my back. I like having friends I can really trust. That's why Lydia is the perfect wife for me! She's my best-est friend!!!! ;)
You can ask her though... what's my life motto? "Always do right" It's not only a good idea, but it is what we as Christians are committed to do. Yes, I fail. But it is something I strive for. Others may not like it, but hey, if you want someone you can trust and will be honest... who will you go to? A friend that deceives or one who you can trust?
Just a thought!

Tidbit Tuesday: The Bottom Of The Hour
I've grown up listening to KWFC radio ever since I can remember, and there hasn't been much change in how the programming is run. For example, the news is at the beginning of every hour, and the weather at :30.
The DJ would always announce that the weather was going to be coming up at "the bottom of the hour". This would continually confused me... I'd be looking at my clock in the car... what's further than bottom? Shouldn't the bottom of the hour be toward the end? Not the middle?
Well, if you look at an analog clock, 'thirty minutes' is at the bottom, thus the phrase. Oh! Perhaps I'm just a bit slow. However, now that everything is digital, I'm thinking this could be done away with. But that's my opinion..
So, next time you hear it, you won't have to wonder! There's your tidbit for today!

Week Rundown (10/02/2011-10/08/2011)
Sunday
Woke up a bit cold... the temps were a bit chilly! I did the church vans.
Today was the start of Missions Month at church. We had Bro. Deal, veteran missionary to Africa, preach during the services. He brought a great presentation on what he's been through in over 50 years of ministry! Wow....!
For the afternoon, we stayed at the church for Moses' 18th birthday party. We ate pizza, played ping-pong, and ate cake! The kids didn't take a nap, so they ended up falling asleep during the evening services.
When we got home, we gave the kids a sandwich and we all got ready for bed.
Monday
Back to school and work. After such a long weekend, it the day wasn't so bad! I stayed busy at work. Lydia had a lot to do when she came home for the evening. When I got home, we worked on supper and had the kids clean up their rooms. We tried a new dish, which meant that supper was a little late. Lydia started into her homework while I got the kids to bed before heading to do the grocery run. (I didn't do it over the weekend)
Tuesday
Lydia attended a 'college fair' after 5. So after work, I picked up the kids and headed over to Grandma Taylor's for a visit. The kids played while we talked and then we went over to my parents' house for a bit as well. By 7pm... Mysia was already falling asleep, so we headed home.
Wednesday
Today I got to do the air-shift from 3-6pm. It was fun, and I feel more comfortable behind the board. I'm still learning, and a bit nervous... but I'm enjoying myself. I found out that I'll be on the air some more next week!
Lydia picked up the kids, ran home and made sandwiches, then came and picked me up from work. We rushed to church and made it on time.
Thursday
This afternoon I had a doctors appointment. It was a yearly check-up. I spent over an hour in the waiting room, and then over thirty minutes in the patient room before seeing the doctor! Ugh! The doctor told me to try and walk more and be more active.
Discipleship was cancelled for tonight, so we put in a movie while we ate supper. The kids then pressured us to let them watch a cartoon before showers and bed.
Friday
It was an interesting day at work... definitely the end of the work-week! We lost network and internet for the last part of the day. It's amazing how much we depend on those things!
Lydia went business communication conference around 1pm and it didn't get over until after 6. She enjoyed it, and even got a good supper as well!
After work I picked up the kids and came home. I took them for a walk around the neighborhood before making ramen noodle soup for supper. We watched a few episodes of the Andy Griffith Show before Lydia came home.
Saturday
We slept in a bit, and then started house-work. There was plenty to do... like always! ;)
I took the kids for a walk before naps, but it wasn't much of a walk for them. Mysia rode her scooter and Malachi his bike. It made our 'walk' a little longer, but it was a good family excursion!
This evening, I took Lydia to the KWFC appreciation day at the Stained Glass Theatre in Ozark. It was work-related, but still fantastic. We got to enjoy a mini-concert by the LeFevre Quartet and then the production. It was awesome!

Week Rundown (09/25/2011-10/01/2011)
Sunday
This morning was Men's prayer breakfast at church. I was running a bit late, but I made it.
During the afternoon, Lydia made an home-made apple pies for Teacher's Appreciation Dinner after evening services.
Monday
After getting off work, we met at Rib Crib for supper. The kids were hyper, but did well. The food was great!
We came home, and Mysia worked on her homework. While Lydia was doing the laundry, she found a huge spider. I caught it and put it in an empty pickle jar. Needless to say, it was the highlight of the evening.
Tuesday
Malachi got to go on a field trip with his daycare to Jumping Joey's today. As the name suggests, it's a place that allows kids to play and jump around. A perfect place for our little monkey! Now if you think that he came home wore out... you're wrong! Nothing zaps his energy. In fact, he was hyped up!
Work was interesting for me. I got to be in the 'hot seat' at the stations' studio. It's fun, but nerve-wrecking at the same time! I'm getting more comfortable, but it's gonna take a little more time.
Wednesday
Today was pretty normal. Wednesday evening services at church went well.
Thursday
This evening we had Discipleship with the Banks. They brought us some burgers and we had a great meeting. The kids watched a movie after eating supper.
Friday
After work, Mysia and I picked up Abigail. She was our sitter for the evening while I took Lydia to the Showboat Branson Belle. It was a good date night, and we really enjoyed the time together. The food was great, walking out on the deck was awesome, and the show was entertaining.
Saturday
We slept in a bit. The kids played together nicely after the woke up. Lydia got ready and took the kids to the Pregnancy Care Center's "Walk For Life" that was held downtown. Her and the kids watched Lycia do the 5K Run, and then they participated in the walk. Unfortunately, it wore her out.
While they were gone, I got ready for our quartet's singing at Jordan Creek Nursing. They had invited us to sing at their outdoor Octoberfest. I got there with enough time to visit with the people and start setting up.
Lydia got home with the kids. Her heart was racing a bit, so she took a nap along with kids. When she woke up, it was still high, which gave her concern.
The singing went well. We even had friends show up to hear us sing! They said they want us back.
When I arrived back home, Lydia was still not doing good. She called the on-call doctor, but he never called back. We then dropped the kids off with Me-Maw, and ran to urgent care. We spent over 4 hours there as they determined that she had gotten dehydrated and had a fever (along with chills). They gave her fluids through an IV during our time of waiting. They sent her home saying she needs to drink more. During the whole thing, Lydia got a migraine!
Back at home, Lydia went to bed and I got the kids ready for bed as well. I made me a late supper, and then went to bed as well. What a long day!

Thursday Thoughts: John Three Sixteen
It's been a busy week so far, and I'm sure today will not be any different. As I write this, I don't know what today will hold. But one thing is for sure... it won't be boring.
Last night we had our children's services. I teach the lesson for the primary class (1st-3rd grade). Each week I bring a 'friend', a ventriloquist figure. Well, I brought Hannah for the lesson, and she helped me teach on John 3:16. A simple but profound conversation.
I encourage you to go through each section of that verse. It's powerful, awesome, and life changing. As a Christian, my life depends on it. I can't make it on my own. It was because of the gift of the ultimate sacrifice. There's only one thing I had to do... humble myself, repent of my sins, and accept the offer!
It's amazing that something so easy is hard for people to do. It's not something for us to earn. There's no way that we could ever live a perfect life.

Week Rundown (09/18/2011-09/24/2011)
Sunday
Since I had been staying up late, I decided to give my eyes a rest and wear glasses in place of my contacts. All was going good until I tried to adjust them during Sunday School. They snapped at the nose, and I couldn't wear them. It then became a problem, because I'm basically blind! I'm so near-sighted that I can barely make out things. A good example of how I see without glasses would be to hold up a magnifying glass and try and make out a room... it's that bad!
Anyway, there went the idea of driving the vans during the afternoon. So I rode home with Lydia and the kids. Thankfully I had another pair, so I was fine for the rest of the day.
Our quartet sang a special during the evening service and we had a guest preacher who spoke about the Widow's Mite.
After services, we had family over to celebrate Malachi's 4th birthday. He's such a ham, and enjoyed all the attention. We had pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream. Malachi got some pretty cool gifts.
Monday
We woke up tired, but got up and going.
Lydia had a doctor's appointment. So afterwards, she picked Malachi up and headed home to start supper. I picked up Mysia from the Boy's and Girl's club after work and found out that there was an 'Open-House" at her school until 6. I called Lydia, and they met us at the school. We got to visit with Mysia's teacher, see how organized her desk is, and get to see some of the schoolwork she was proud of.
We ate a good supper. I rushed over for quartet practice while Lydia got the kids ready for bed. When I arrived back home, Lydia had just finished watching her favorite tv show, Castle.
Tuesday
After work and school, we met at home. We ate supper, watched some tv, and had a pretty good evening.
I had offered Mysia the chance to play my gameboy, but she opted to read a book instead!! Besides writing letters, reading is her favorite thing.
Wednesday
This evening was Master Clubs at church. We really focused on the books and verses. It turned out very well. Mysia is now in our class, she's already excited about it.
Thursday
Today was pretty normal, and nothing unusual happened. We had a nice relaxing evening after eating supper. Lydia worked on homework of course....
Friday
We came home and got supper ready. The Banks came over to do our discipleship lessons. We've been trying to meet up for the past month, but things have kept us busy!
Saturday
We woke up and got things done around the house. I mowed the lawn and did the next week's grocery run. Lydia worked on finances and homework. I took the kids for a walk and let them play outside for a bit. In the evening, Lydia and I did our "state of the family meeting', where we slip away and go over finances, parenting, and any other issues.

You know you're a Baptist when…
Please don't get offended! I found these to be funny and mostly true! lol
You know you're a Baptist when…
You make use of all of your Bibles... one for home, one for devotions, one to keep at Church, one for the car, one for your purse (or shirt pocket if you are a guy) ,,,
Every anniversary, special meeting and conference is celebrated with a Church potluck!
You always seem to sit in the back of the church
Your pastor always goes to the back of the church at the end of the service where you can shake his hand
You need a cup of coffee before the morning service
You will park wherever there is a spot in the church parking lot
You actually want to attend Sunday school
Your church supports a lot of missionaries
Your church has missions conferences
Your church actually has a choir
Your church enjoys the 3 F's: Food, Fun, and Fellowship
You Consider Sunday lunch part of the service
You feel guilty about throwing the bulletins away
More adults sit on the front row during a children's choir concert, than do on Sunday morning
You feel the urge to say "amen" after every song- even at the Children's Choir Concert
You have never sung the third verse of any hymn.
You met your spouse at camp
Your preacher has a "Fried Chicken Belly"
Your Church's Sanctuary or Choir room smells like old books
When you were little you were afraid of one of the deacons.
You know that the words "we've never done it that way before" are the death toll to any new idea.
You know how to pledge allegiance to the Christian Flag & the Bible.
You hear "Just as I Am", "Create in me a clean heart", or any of those hymns and instantly stand up because you think it is decision time.
Your church had a Fish Fry/ Lord's Supper/ Baptismal service.
You have ever been given, or given to someone the "Right hand of Christian Fellowship"
You’re positive your preacher's books include: "1001 Illustrations" , "Greatest Collection of Church Jokes", etc.
Everything you know about illnesses & surgeries you learned in Wednesday prayer meeting.
You think God's presence is strongest on the back three pews.
You think "Amazing Grace" is the national anthem.
You honestly believe that the Apostle Paul spoke King James English.
You judge the quality of a service by its length.
You ever wake up in the middle of the night craving fried chicken and interpret that feeling as a call to preach.
You see that it's 12:05 when the invitation starts and get excited b/c you're getting out early that day.
Your church moves the Sunday evening service up two hours so they can watch the Super Bowl on the projectors.
You wonder whether you'll be singing or skipping the second to last verse in the hymnal.
Sitting in a different seat is considered “leaving your comfort zone.”
If you can't remember when you first memorized John 3:16
You consider "Victory In Jesus" the Baptist fight song.
You went directly from attending VBS to teaching it.
Your entire summer calendar revolves around church camp and VBS
You hear about a church fight, you say, "So, where's the news?"
You know at least a dozen funny things that happened during baptismal services.
You complain about the pastor's long sermons, but you would feel cheated by one under 20 minutes.
You don't like fancy, written-out public prayers, but somebody ought to help your preacher and the deacons put a little more life and freshness and thought into theirs!
You wish they wouldn't make all those announcements in the church service, but the times when they don't, you get angry because you didn't know about an important meeting.

Week Rundown (09/11/2011-09/17/2011)
Sunday
A pretty nice typical Sunday. Lydia and Mysia attended a baby shower for our youth Pastor's wife, Kristen before evening services.
Monday
Back to work, school, and daycare! At work, I got to handle the board while Jonathan Edwards was in Kentucky for the National Quartet Convention. He would introduce the songs by cell phone, and I was engineer! I also got to announce the weather.
I attended a PTA meeting. There are some exciting events coming soon for Mysia's school. It's neat to be a part of it.
For the evening, it was relaxing. No major plans.
Tuesday
After dropping Malachi off at daycare, I took Mysia to the dentist. Her tooth was bugging her, and come to find out, a filling had come loose. They took it out and replaced it! We're good to go!
In weather, today was HOT! We hit a new record... 99 degrees! Ugh!
Mysia got her entire week's homework finished at the Boys & Girls club after school. She was excited.
Wednesday
The weather cooled down quick... we actually set a record low!
This evening's services was the start of a three-day financial conference. We're trying to be good stewards of our money and keep within a budget.
Thursday
Today was Malachi's 4th birthday! Lydia woke him up before she had to leave and wished him a happy birthday.,He bolts up and looks down at himself. Since we're working on night-time potty training, Lydia asked if he was dry. He says, "yep and my legs are bigger too!!"
We went back to church for the continuation of the financial conference. It
Friday
My last day doing the board for Jonathan at work. We had some technical problems, and I lost him while he was doing an interview during the last hour of the show. I came on, introduced the next song, and tried to make contact back with Jonathan. I didn't realize it until afterwards, but I left the mic on!!!! Yikes! Yup, I'm still learning.....
We attended the last conference at church tonight. It went longer than the other nights, and we didn't get to bed until after midnight! Even though it wore us out, the whole thing was good.
Saturday
We woke up early and headed out. Granny watched Mysia and Malachi for several hours while Lydia and I helped our friends, Doug and Mary, move into their new home! We're so excited for them. It's a great place! We got most of it moved before the rain came, and the rain didn't stop!
We came home for the later part of the afternoon. We did chores, ate supper, and got the kids ready for bed. Lydia worked on homework and I did an evening grocery run.

Friday Fun: Minister Jokes
I decided that I'd share several jokes today... it being Friday! The theme is Ministers.
-----
A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17."
The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up.
The minister smiled and said, "Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying..."
-----
As part of his talk at a banquet, a minister told some jokes and a few funny stories. Since he planned to use the same anecdotes at a meeting the next day, he asked reporters covering the event not to include them in their articles.
Reading the paper the following morning, he noticed that one well-meaning cub reporter had ended his story on the banquet with the observation "The minister told a number of stories that cannot be published."
-----
An old preacher was dying. He sent a message for his banker and his lawyer, both church members, to come to his home.
When they arrived, they were ushered up to his bedroom. As they entered the room, the preacher held out his hands and motioned for them to sit on each side of the bed. The preacher grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled, and stared at the ceiling.
For a time, no one said anything Both the banker and lawyer were touched and flattered that the preacher would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled; the preacher had never given them any indication that he particularly liked either of them. They both remembered his many long, uncomfortable sermons about greed, covetousness, and avaricious behavior that made them squirm in their seats.
Finally, the banker said, "Preacher, why did you ask us to come?"
The old preacher mustered up his strength and then said weakly, "Jesus died between two thieves, and that's how I want to go."
-----
Three people were visiting and viewing the Grand Canyon -- an artist, a pastor and a cowboy. As they stood on the edge of that massive abyss, each one responded with a cry of exclamation.
The artist said, "Ah, what a beautiful scene to paint!"
The minister cried, "What a wonderful example of the handiwork of God!"
The cowboy mused, "What a terrible place to lose a cow!"
-----
Have a great weekend!
